Why you should use a bike on Mallorca
Mallorca is the biggest island within in the Balearic Islands. I often loved to stay here at the beginning of spring. Here I have the opportunity during bike excursions to learn about Mallorca. Our guide Sybille lives for 25 years on the isle and has a profound background in history, local politics, geography, botanics, … .
Also the other members of our bike team have been very interested in Mallorca Topics and lets say: We have been a very good team.
On the first days the weather was very cloudy and cold. But nevertheless we took journeys about 50 km and several Climbing Meters to explore the island. Here some photo impressions:
Andratx and the Port is located in the South West of the Island. It is a Hot Spot “De la Richesse” . If you look at the hills on the right side of the photo on the bottom: There are numberless of residences owned by rich people. This situation you will meet at any harbor or bay located on mallorca.
But if you using the little streets and ways you will encounter the lovely face of the island. You will find blowing landscapes and villages glued at the rocks. Unreachable for normal cars.
Here you can see a typical scenery of Mallorca.
A small street leads to the village of Galilea on top of hill. Arrived on top you will find a picturesque scenery of old houses.
Even the view from the Church Place is “marvellous” .
From here you have a look over the hills to the coastal line.
Our Tour along the Coast
On the last day of our journey the bike program lead us on a coastal ride from Valldemossa to Andratx always along the coastal line. As Valldemossa was overcrowded this time we decided to start at once. But you must know the village is very interesting and worth a visit.

This ride along the coast took us 60 km and 1050 m altitude. A sportive action with wonderful impressions.
Palma de Mallorca
Palma is the cultural, tourist and economic centre of Mallorca. As we have one day of recreation we decided to visit the capital town of Mallorca.
Our first destination in Palma was the impressive cathedral. The cathedral is named the “La Seu”. Here I present you some photos of the inside. If the sun is shining you will be surrounded by several light shows.
Leaving the church you are nearby the arabian quarter. Here you will find houses founded in the moorish time of Mallorca. But you will also find art nouveau houses and modern buildings. The museum of modern art is integrated with its modern rooms in an old fort near the port of Palma.
Art Places an d other Interesting Locations
As mentioned we also wanted to visit Art Areas in Palma. In the streets you will find a lot of Sculptures. We have decided to visit the Es Baluard Museum of contemporary arts. Here on the top of the roof you will also find some wonderful modern sculptures and you have also a grand view into the city of Palma and the haven.
In the center of Palma near the Placa Major the Museu Fundacio Joan March is located. A very impressive collection of modern art. Here you will also find the interesting market halls.
Some additional Remarks
We have booked our E-Bike arrangement with Philipps Bike Team. The arrangement included the hotel, dinner, breakfast, also the E-Bike and guided tours. The whole team is very nice.
